Dave Gagon has been writing for over 30 years. He spent 19 of those years as the visual arts writer/editor at the Deseret News in Salt Lake City, Utah. There, he reviewed more than 100 artists, including painters, sculptors, printmakers, photographers, and more from around the state. Each article included facts about the artist’s creative personality, their medium and work process, and their future goals. During his time at the paper, Gagon received multiple writing awards from the Associated Press and the Society of Professional Journalists.
Prior to his time at the Deseret News, Gagon was co-producer/director of the Sing Me A Story project developed by Tele-Communications Network out of Southern California. Sing Me A Story combined original songs and artwork with traditional tales and inventive new stories, several of which were penned by Gagon. Before Sing Me A Story, Gagon wore many hats at the Berrenda Mesa Farms in-house advertising agency: copywriter, graphic designer, and commercial photographer. His photography and copywriting appeared in such publications as Bon Appetite, Good Housekeeping, and Cuisine. Gagon received his degree in Communications from Brigham Young University and later returned to school and completed an MBA. He also teaches English and Communications part-time at two community colleges. |
